Telehealth Courses


TELE 635. FOUNDATIONS OF TELEHEALTH. 4 Credits.

Pre-requisites: admission to the graduate certificate in Telehealth program.
This course provides an overview of telehealth and its applications. Benefits and barriers are discussed from stakeholder’s perspectives. The impact of telehealth on at-risk populations and healthcare professionals as well as future projections are reviewed. Key program management concepts including fiscal models, business principles, and insurance reimbursement are discussed.

TELE 645. ETHICAL, LEGAL, REGULATORY CONSIDERATION IN TELEHEALTH. 4 Credits.

Pre-requisites: TELE 635.
This course focuses on ethical, legal, and regulatory considerations for developing, implementing, and practicing in telehealth. Emphasis is placed on principles of risk management and adherence to diversity, equity, and inclusion policies in providing telehealth services to vulnerable populations.

TELE 655. TELEHEALTH TECHNOLOGY AND METHODS. 4 Credits.

Pre-requisites: TELE 635 and TELE 645.
Collaboration, critical issues, and change agent actions in the program development process of a telehealth program are addressed. Best practices for quality assurance and sustainable telehealth implementations within various healthcare disciplines are examined. Examples of the software, hardware, applications, and peripheral devices are analyzed including virtual provider-to-provider networks.

TELE 665. ENHANCING THE TELEHEALTH PATIENT EXPERIENCE. 4 Credits.

Pre-requisites: TELE 635, TELE 645, and TELE 655.
Technical, ethical, legal, regulatory, and practical aspects for Telehealth Practitioners within various healthcare disciplines and settings are discussed. Tools for assessing, establishing rapport, and building relationships with patients using principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion are emphasized. Students are prepared to conduct, evaluate, and advocate for telehealth within their disciplines.
