Transfer Credit

At EWU, we recognize our students come to us already with a breadth of experiences and knowledge that can enhance their degree.  EWU Transfer helps students by facilitating the evaluation of prior learning earned at other colleges, through experiences like the military and through exams like Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate. In addition, we work with colleges around the state to create policies and develop pathways to help students transfer and earn a degree.

Reverse Transfer

Students who transfer to EWU without an Associate’s degree may be eligible to earn an Associate’s degree at their prior institution through Reverse Transfer. Reverse Transfer is the process of using credits earned at EWU and transferring them back to a former institution.

To be eligible for Reverse Transfer, students must:

  • Have at least 60 transferable credits and
  • Have attended a school* that awards Associate’s degrees

*Note: Some schools may have requirements regarding the minimum number of credits earned at that school and how recently a student attended. Students should follow up with their prior school for details.

Students who sign up for Reverse Transfer at Eastern, authorize EWU to report academic data to the National Student Clearinghouse. Participating colleges can access information on their prior students to review for a degree. If a prior school does not participate, a Reverse Transfer student will need to request to have an official transcript sent to the prior school. Students should schedule an appointment with their prior school for more information about the graduation procedures for their Associate’s degree.

Students can sign up for Reverse Transfer by indicating their interest on their admissions application or by contacting EWU Transfer.
