Educational Leadership, Master of Education (M.ED)

The Master of Education in Educational Leadership program is ideal for teachers or candidates who work in education outside of a traditional P–12 school setting. Grounded in best practices and current research in educational leadership and management, this program prepares candidates to lead in diverse settings.

Admissions Requirements
  1. Have earned a baccalaureate degree (either a BA or BS) from an accredited institution of higher education.
  2. Have earned a grade point average of ≥3.0 on a 4-point scale during the final 90 quarter credits (or 60 semester credits) of enrolled coursework.

Students who earn an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from EWU should be able to:
  • Lead collaboratively to design and implement a mission, vision, and continuous improvement process - Graduates will apply leadership theories to collaboratively establish and implement a school or program mission and continuous improvement system grounded in shared values, data use, technology, equity, and community priorities;
  • Demonstrate ethical, professional, and legally responsible leadership - Graduates will advocate for ethical decision‑making and model professional norms while understanding legal, policy, and regulatory frameworks that impact educational leadership practice;
  • Cultivate an equitable, inclusive, and culturally responsive school or organizational culture - Graduates will develop and sustain learning environments that are supportive, culturally responsive, equitable, and inclusive, ensuring the well‑being and success of all students and staff;
  • Lead coherent systems of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and data‑driven supports - Graduates will evaluate, develop, and implement aligned systems of curriculum, instruction, data practices, and academic/behavioral supports that promote continuous student and adult learning;
  • Engage families, communities, and stakeholders to strengthen student learning and school improvement - Graduates will collaborate with families, school personnel, and community partners to support student success, address school needs, and advocate for responsive educational practices;
