Spanish for the Professions Minor
The Spanish for the Professions Minor develops practical Spanish language skills for use in professional settings. Coursework emphasizes communication, cultural competence, and specialized vocabulary relevant to fields such as business, healthcare, and law, and criminal justice.

Students who earn a Spanish for the Professions Minor from EWU should be able to:
- handle a variety of orally communicative tasks relevant to their professional area at the Advanced Low level (or higher) of Spanish according to the ACTFL standards;
- satisfy writing needs in a professional setting at the Advanced Low level (or higher) of Spanish according to the ACTFL standards;
- read Spanish in a professional context at the advanced-low (or higher) level of proficiency on the ACTFL scale;
- demonstrate Spanish listening comprehension in a professional field at the advanced-low (or higher) level of proficiency on the ACTFL scale;
- demonstrate cultural competency of Spanish-speaking cultures to communicate effectively, address cultural differences, and provide a better service to clients.
