The School of Libraries offers information literacy courses for undergraduate students in various disciplines. These courses prepare students for lifelong learning, career success as well as graduate education.



Library Studies Courses


LIBR 210. INTRODUCTION TO ACADEMIC RESEARCH. 5 Credits.

Satisfies: a BACR for social sciences.
This course provides the fundamental concepts of information literacy, the research process, and ethical use of information in academic context. The focus is on developing practical skills for conducting independent research in liberal arts and social science. Hands-on activities are integrated to teach effective search strategies and the use of library resources to select and evaluate information.

LIBR 220. INFORMATION LITERACY FOR HEALTH MAJORS. 2 Credits.

Pre-requisites: English proficiency.
This course introduces nursing students to information literacy concepts and the research process in the Health Sciences by teaching effective search strategies and how to select and evaluate information.
